El Corte Inglés, Spain’s largest retailer with over €17 billion in annual sales has adopted aquaSecure Stamp, a technology based on the use of digital watermarking that will prevent document fraud at its Warehouse and Distribution Center (WDC) in Madrid.

The implementation of this innovative technological solution is consistent with El Corte Ingles’ efforts to lead in the adoption of new technologies and bet on state-of-the-art solutions.

Digital watermarking will provide El Corte Ingles with an efficient document stamping system which has been designed to prevent the unauthorized copies of rubber stamps, and to dramatically reduce fraud in the transaction certification system. This secure stamping system has been designed and implemented by aquaMobile, a Spanish firm which is an international reference in digital watermarking solutions for securing printed and digital contents and documents. aquaMobile is also known for its award winning CLIC2C print-to.web solutions which is transforming printed media into an interactive gateway to mobile content.

aquaMobile’s solution, based on the use of an automated system that prints a specific secure stamp per document, enables a fast and reliable goods reception management system at the WDC. The information contained in the digital watermarks of aquaMobile’s secure stamps can be decoded using mobile phones equipped with aquaMobile’s mobile applications, thus allowing users to identify and authenticate sales documents anywhere and anytime. The results of the implementation of this technology are the automation of document stamping and the reduction of fraud, transaction costs and time in the reception of goods processes within WDC’s premises.

The WDC located in Valdemoro, a town located a dozen miles south of Madrid, is the first of El Corte Ingles’ logistics centers to implement this system. It will later be also implemented at the other two WDCs in Catalonia and the Canary Islands, before it is extended to all El Corte Ingles locations equipped with goods storage facilities.
